Terms of Service

Terms of Service

These terms govern your purchase and use of Kept. By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to them.

Effective · July 26, 2026

01Parties

These terms are an agreement between you and the independent developer of Kept (an individual) concerning Kept, the macOS application. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The seller of the purchase transaction is a third-party payment provider (see “Purchase and payment”). These terms govern the software license itself.

02License

You receive a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable personal license to run Kept on Macs you own or control.

  • $39 one-time, activating 2 of your own Macs
  • Includes 12 months of version updates
  • From month 13 you may renew at $29/year for continued access to new versions only
  • If you do not renew, the version you have keeps working forever — no features locked, local data untouched
  • Switching machines: deactivate the old one and the seat is released

03Trial

A 14-day full-featured trial is available with no credit card required. When it ends, recordings, transcripts, and notes from the trial are not deleted and remain readable and exportable. Automatic processing of new meetings requires a valid license.

04Restrictions

  • Do not reverse engineer or decompile the app, or bypass or crack license validation
  • Do not resell, rent, sublicense, or share your license key with anyone else
  • Do not use Kept for unlawful purposes or to infringe others’ rights

Ordinary personal use is fine, including activating within your seat limit and backing up your own data.

05Purchase and payment

A third-party payment provider completes the transaction as the seller. Payment, invoicing, taxes, and payment disputes are handled by them, and your license key is emailed by them.

Prices on this site are listed in US dollars. Settlement currency, exchange rate, and taxes are as shown at checkout.

06Refunds

Within 30 days of purchase, you may request a refund with no reason required. Email support@keptmac.com, or request it in the payment provider’s customer portal.

After a refund, the license is revoked and cannot activate new devices; already-activated machines return to an unlicensed state. Recordings and transcripts on your Mac are not deleted, and files you already exported are unaffected.

07Updates

Updates ship through Sparkle and can be installed from inside the app. We continue to fix bugs and improve the product, but we do not promise delivery dates for specific features, or permanent compatibility of any build with future versions of macOS.

08Third-party services

Note generation relies on the AI provider you configure. You pay that provider directly; the money does not pass through us. Their availability, pricing, and terms are outside our control. The same applies to speech models distributed by HuggingFace or its mirrors.

09Recording compliance

Whether you must notify participants or obtain consent before recording depends on the law where you are; many places require it. Follow local rules. We cannot make that determination for you and accept no liability arising from it.

10Accuracy

Speech recognition and language models make mistakes. Words may be misheard; notes may miss or distort a point. Treat Kept’s output as a reference. For decisions, contracts, financial, or legal matters, check against the original recording.

11Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Kept is provided “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages (including data loss, business interruption, or lost profits). Our total liability under these terms is capped at the amount you actually paid for the license.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limitations; in those places, local law prevails.

12Termination

You may stop using Kept and delete it at any time. If you materially breach these terms (for example by cracking license validation or reselling keys), we may revoke the corresponding license. Revocation does not affect data already stored on your Mac.

13Changes to these terms

When these terms change, we update the effective date at the top of the page. Changes apply to purchases made after the change. For a purchase already completed, the scope of your license is not narrowed by a later revision.

14Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of mainland China. Disputes are submitted to a competent court at the operator’s place of residence.

If consumer protection law where you live grants mandatory rights that cannot be waived by contract, this clause does not affect those rights.
